MANY and NYSCA Announce a New Round of Funding for Mini-Grant and Travel Grant Program

The New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) has provided $102,000 in funding to be administered by the Museum Association of New York (MANY) before June 30, 2016.  As a result, MANY is announcing the re-opening of the Mini-Grant Program, with the first deadline for applications due November 6, 2015.  MANY will also begin accepting applications for the Travel Grant program beginning September 1, 2015.  There is no deadline for the Travel Grant Program; funding is available on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funds are exhausted.

Mini-Grants of up to $5,000 are available to work on a modest ($20,000 or less total project budget) planning or implementation project.  While a match is not required, applicants are encouraged to show other contributions to their project through staff time or other funds.  Applicants must be able to articlulate why this project is a current priority for their museum, historical society, zoo, botanical garden or aquarium, and how it moves the organization forward.  The grant cannot be used as a match for a NYSCA application, nor duplicate any NYSCA request.  Grant funds also cannot be used to support the salary of any current staff or for any capital projects.
