Prompted recently by the concerns of several Museum Association of New York member institutions about declining school visitation, MANY created an online survey to begin assessing the breadth of museum-school relationships. Fifty institutions ranging from art, science, history, children’s, and culturally specific institutions weighed in with information about their educational programming, their concerns for the future of museum-school programming, and their hopes for building stronger relationships with SED.

Last year, many of you will recall that MANY and the New York State Council on the Arts Museum Program collaborated with Kimberli Gant, a graduate student and former staff member of the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, on a survey looking at the demographic make-ups of staff, board and volunteers in NYS museums and heritage organizations. Kim's research resulted in a poster session presentation at the College Art Association's annual conference last February -- here is a storyboard of her presentation.
