Assembly Member Matthew Titone Introduces the Museum Education Act into the New York State Assembly

The Museum Association of New York (MANY) would like thank Assemblyman Matthew Titone for introducing the Museum Education Act (A.8199) into the state Assembly. The Assembly Member represents Staten Island and is a member of the Assembly Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development Committee. This is the same bill as Senator Betty Little’s bill (S.5001) introduced in April.

Many has developed a MEA Toolbox for the museum community that includes information on the bill and why it is important for your museum, template letters to the editor about the bill, and handy sheets you can fill in regarding your institution's economic impact and who your elected leaders are. To find the MEA Toolbox please go to http://manyonline.org/advocacy/museum-education-act. If you do not know who your Senator or Assemblymember is, please visit http://www.manyonline.org/advocacy/nys-and-federal-legislative-contacts.

Please remember, we need your help to advocate for this important piece of legislation. Please contact your local Assemblymember and Senator and ask that they co-sponsor S.5001 in the Senate and A.8199 in the Assembly. Tell them why it matters to your organization and why it is important to their region. The more co-sponsors we have, the better!
